Another arrest in Rae Portman case
A third man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping Auckland woman Rae Portman, who was found murdered in September.
Counties Manukau Police today said they had arrested a 36-year-old Papakura man and charged him with kidnapping the pregnant woman.
Another man, Paraire Te Awa, 32, has been charged with her murder and yesterday, Lee Rigby, also 32, pleaded guilty to kidnapping Portman.
The as-yet-unnamed third man is due to appear in the Papakura Districty Court this afternoon.
Portman, 33, went missing in Auckland in June, which sparked a huge police effort focused on tracing her steps.
They confirmed Portman had contacts in the drug world and several arrests were made as a result of the police work but they were unconnected to her disappearance.
Her body was found in September at the back of a rural Ardmore property.
At a press conference only days before the body was found Portman's mother, Rebecca Norton, revealed her daughter was four months pregnant when she disappeared.
Te Awa will appear in court again later this month.
