A teenage girl has been charged with sexually assaulting 10-year-old girls and making video recordings of the abuse.

The North Shore teenager, aged 18, appeared in the High Court at Auckland this morning charged with doing an indecent act to a child and making an intimate visual recording.

Her co-accused, a 19-year-old male, has pleaded guilty and is due to be sentenced in July.

The girl pleaded not guilty today and name suppression was granted as she was still a school student and to name her would impair her ability to go to school.

She was also said to be a suicide risk.

Justice Tim Brewer remanded her on bail to a further call-over in July.
