Milton Hira was arrested on Saturday night.

After spending all of 2016 evading police, Milton Lester Hira's luck has finally run out.

The gang member who spent more than 370 days at large after removing his electronic bracelet was arrested on New Year's Eve, police said.

In a statement, Counties Manukau police said they found Hira at an address in the south Auckland suburb of Manurewa.

Hira, 30, was facing charges including burglary, vehicle theft and other dishonesty offences, as well as breach of electronic monitoring bail.

"Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in providing information which led to the arrest of Mr Hira."

Hira was reportedly a member of the Crips gang, and had twice breached electronic bail before.
