A Domino's Pizza staff member was threatened by a robber who stole cash from the Fairfield store.

He slunk in through the Domino's back door and he wasn't after a Grand Supreme to takeway.

The man was disguised in a balaclava and wore gloves. His target was cash from the till.

There were four staff working inside the pizza outlet at Davies Corner in Fairfield, Hamilton, when the robber sidled in on Wednesday night, Senior Sergeant Greg Foster of Waikato police said.

He approached one of the workers and demanded they hand over cash, he said.

"He's verbally threatened the worker and obtained an amount of cash before fleeing on foot."

Foster said the man was last seen running out the back door through Fairfield. He was unsure whether there was a getaway vehicle involved.

The man was wearing a balaclava and gloves but there was no further description of him.

Police were reviewing CCTV footage, Foster said.

Anyone who may have seen a man acting suspiciously or running from the store around 11pm on Wednesday is asked to call Hamilton police on 07 858 6200.
