A court date is pending for a rubbish truck driver whose lost load blocked the lower Kaimai Ranges.

The EnviroWaste truck lost a bin on the Tauranga side of the Kaimai Ranges on Wednesday morning, blocking the southbound lane of State Highway 29.

The road was closed for several hours as a crane and digger were brought in to clear the debris, SunLive reported.

It's not yet certain what that will be, Sergeant Wayne Hunter told SunLive.

"A man will be summonsed to appear in Tauranga District Court next month on a likely charge of careless use of a motor vehicle."

The court date has not yet been set.

The accident, which happened near Redwood Lane around 10.20am on Wednesday, caused no injuries.
