Further name suppression for man accused of Porirua attempted abduction
The man accused of the abduction of a 3-year-old Porirua girl has had his name suppression extended.
The 32-year-old, charged with attempted abduction and two charges or assault, did not appear in Porirua District Court on Tuesday morning but was excused by Judge Kelly.
There was no plea entered.
The man was arrested on March 14, after he allegedly tried to snatch the girl who was walking with her father in Exploration Way, Whitby.
He had been placed in the care of a respite house on the street - run by mental health services provider Pathways Health - less than an hour before the incident.
The suppression has been extended until April 4.
* A community meeting for concerned residents will be held on March 21, Adventure School, Longitude Pl, Whitby, 6.15pm.
