Two men have been arrested after allegedly turning up with guns to a home in Lower Hutt.

According to police, the men turned up to a home in Mcdougall Grove - a residential road between State Highway 2 and Haywards Hill Rd - about midnight and threatened the occupant with a gun.

The men were found near the address early on Monday morning with a replica gun, police said.

It was not clear if the men had got inside the house or if anything was stolen.

The two Lower Hutt men, aged 32 and 31, will appear in Hutt Valley District Court charged with aggravated robbery.

The 31 year old is also charged with possession of a methamphetamine pipe and of an offensive weapon.
