The man charged over the burglary of a Lower Hutt motel who was allegedly caught on CCTV has been remanded in custody.

Stacy Richard Howard, 38, is charged with burglary of a motel in Lower Hutt and Internal Affairs.  He has not pleaded to the charges.

He is charged jointly with Pita Edwards over the burglary of Internal Affairs.  Edwards had appeared earlier today charged with the burglary of the Wellington School of Medicine.

Wellington District Court judge Ian Mill yesterday declined Howard's application for bail and remanded him for nearly two weeks.

The theft from Motel 22 happened early on Saturday.

Electronics valued at about $3000 were stolen, including a smartphone, laptop and tablet computer.
