A Picton man has denied a charge of raping a teenager.

Police claim the man, who cannot be named, sexually violated a girl aged between 12 and 16 in Blenheim on July 2.

The man was sporting a black eye when he appeared by audio visual link at the Blenheim District Court last week, but the swelling had gone down when he reappeared on Monday.

He also denied a charge of cultivating cannabis.
