A woman convicted of killing her husband has been denied parole for a third time.

Lucille Scollay, 48, was jailed for six years in March, 2014, with no minimum non-parole period, for fatally stabbing her husband Guy Christian Scollay in "a moment of madness".

Initially charged with murder, the jury convicted Scollay of manslaughter after establishing sympathy for her situation in a marriage that deteriorated into drug addiction and depression.

Scollay's parole board hearing was held on July 4.

The board heard that Scollay's behaviour had improved since completing a prison programme, and she had been attending relapse prevention meetings.

"She has insight into her propensity to sometimes react aggressively if she perceives injustice," the board said.

A psychologist's report said she had "a mild anger problem", but could benefit from a period of release to work.

"That had not been made available to her previously because she was not able to demonstrate improvements in her behaviour."

Her application for release on parole was declined, partially because she had no approved accommodation outside of prison.

Scollay's next parole board hearing would be held in February 2018.

Her statutory release date is August 4, 2019.
