Police are keen to find a man with an apparent sweet tooth.

The door of Izzy's Foodbar and Takeaway in New Plymouth was smashed at 1.30am on January 3.

Two hours later a man entered the shop on Devon Street West and stuffed ice blocks, chocolates, chewing gum and a few coins down his pants and into his pockets.

The shop's CCTV cameras recorded the incident and footage has been provided to police, who want to speak to the man.

Owner Craig Huffam said the value of the items that were taken was not great, but he was disturbed by the incident.

He urged anyone with information about the man's identity to contact police on (06) 759 5500.
