A 23-year-old man is in hospital after being kicked about the head in a fight that occurred in central Auckland early this morning. 

A fight broke out between two groups of males about 3.30am on Customs Street, police said. 

During the fight, the 23-year-old man was knocked to the ground and kicked about the head, rendering him unconscious, police said 

The man was admitted to Auckland hospital with a serious concussion injury.

Police are following strong leads of enquiry into the incident but are seeking any witnesses to events.
