Ex All Black Sione Lauaki pleads not guilty
Former All Black Sione Lauaki has denied damaging a closed-circuit television camera in a taxi.
The 32-year-old, who appeared in the Auckland District Court this morning, pleaded not guilty to a charge of wilful damage.
Lauaki allegedly offended together with a policeman, Constable Takao Cocker, 31, during an incident in the Auckland suburb of Epsom on December 13.
Cocker has been charged with intentionally damaging one of the taxi's wing mirrors and will reappear in court next month.
The policeman was not on duty at the time of the incident. He could be subject to internal investigation and disciplinary action as a result of the charges.
Lauaki, a former Chiefs loose forward, ended his rugby career at French club Bayonne in 2012 after a routine medical assessment detected problems with his heart and kidneys.
He played 17 tests for the All Blacks, making his debut against Fiji in 2005.
