Repeated attacks rock car owner
Residents of a Wellington street are on edge after tyre slashings caused thousands of dollars of damage.
Marie Jones's car was hit for the second time in two weeks on Saturday, with five other vehicles also attacked in Cunliffe St.
"If it's a once-off, you can kind of accept it as a bit of hooliganism, but if it happens repeatedly, it begins to create a bit of uncertainty, and it's a huge expense as well," Jones said.
Two tyres on her car were slashed early on January 10, leaving her to pay $400 insurance excess.
Then on Saturday morning, she found her tyres had been slashed again.
Her brother-in-law Martin Svehla checked the street. He found six damaged vehicles, including a trailer and a four-wheel-drive.
All the cars were in a 300-metre stretch of Cunliffe St.
