A Nelson man faces charges of assaulting a woman and a child following a violent domestic assault involving a stabbing in Atawhai.

Nelson police said the 27-year-old man would appear in court today charged with unlawful sexual connection, wounding with intent to injure, assaulting a child and wilful damage early yesterday when the woman suffered a stab wound.
