A Maketu man charged with a murder in the Bay of Plenty town was remanded on bail in the Tauranga District Court today.

Tyrone Daniel Flavell, 19, had previously pleaded not guilty to one count of murder.

Isaac Dale Bushell, 46, was found dead with a bullet wound in a park in Beach Rd early on December 8 last year.

Bushell and the accused were known to each other and had been at the same Maketu party.

After police found Bushell dead about 1.45am they stopped a vehicle and arrested one occupant.

A firearm was recovered at a Maketu property.
