A doodle for Google has won Atalya Fakavamoeanga a trip to Wellington and a shot at sharing her artwork with the world.
The Coastal Taranaki School student is one of 20 finalists in the Doodle 4 Google competition, which gave school students the chance to let the country know just what New Zealand means to them by revamping the popular internet search engine's logo.
"I used jandals to make the G,"Atalya, 11, said.
"They're yellow and black because they're Naki Jandals."
Among the other images in Atalya's design are a hokey pokey icecream, a sheep and Auckland's Sky Tower.
"I've put New Zealand in behind it, too," Atalya said.
"That part was pretty hard because we weren't allowed to trace it."
The finalists will be flown to Wellington for an awards ceremony on November 5 and Atalya now has a one-in-four chance of winning her age-group and picking up a laptop computer for herself and an interactive whiteboard for her school.
Google webmaster Dennis Hwang will then select the best overall design from the four age-group winners.
The winning doodle will grace the Google homepage for 24 hours and the winner's school will receive $10,000 worth of technology equipment.
