Live Video: Vegemite Spelling Bee, National Final
Inspired by the Oscar nominated documentary, Spellbound, the New Zealand Vegemite Spelling Bee aims to find the country's best Year 9 speller.
Now in its sixth year, the Spelling Bee is "designed to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabulary, and develop correct English usage", and features around $20,000 in prizes.
From five regional competitions in Dunedin, Hamilton, Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, the field has been narrowed to 12 finalists who will compete today at the Wellington High School Auditorium for the 2010 title.
Watch the webcast of the Vegemite Spelling Bee, National Final, live from the Wellington High School Auditorium.
