A group of students from Auckland's Rangitoto College will travel to the United States next month to compete in an international robot building competition.
The team will compete at the Vex Robotics World Championship, held in Dallas from 20-23 April. The event includes winners from regional championships being held around the world.
The competition sees robots built by secondary school teams compete in different challenges, including the game clean sweep in which robots face off to collect foam balls.
Dianne Purcell, a teacher involved with the group, said working on the robot had been like a little business.
About 30 students from the school are involved in the project with half so far booked to go to the competition.
