The country's largest counselling agency, Relationship Services, turns 60 today.

Established in 1949 as Marriage Guidance, with a name change in 1994, Relationship Services had provided counselling to hundreds of thousands of couples, families and individuals.

In the past year, the agency had worked with 28,000 people.

The agency's patron, Governor General Anand Satyanand, said Relationship Services had made a valuable contribution to New Zealand over 60 years, provided counselling "across the length and breadth of the country".
