Calls to PlunketLine have increased almost 40 percent since funding was increased last year to cover a round-the-clock service, says Health Minister Tony Ryall.

Mr Ryall said $3 million was provided by the Government to support the 24 hour a day, seven day a week service and the expanded hours had resulted in nearly 27,000 more calls in the 2009-10 year than in the previous two years.

"These call numbers show that the $3 million annual grant was money well spent for New Zealand parents and children," he said.

PlunketLine provides parental support and a range of advice about child development and behaviour.
