Former TVNZ staffer Shane Taurima is one of two nominations for Labour in the seat of Tamaki Makaurau.

Labour Party secretary Tim Barnett said Taurima and the Head of Māori Studies at West Auckland's Rutherford College Will Flavell had put their names forward when nominations closed at 5pm

But Taurima required a waiver from the party as he was not a member for a year before nominations for the seat opened.

"That process will take place shortly. An announcement regarding nominees and the confirmation or selection process will then be made," Barnett said.

Labour had three times delayed the deadline for nominations in the seat as it waits for a probe into Taurima's use of TVNZ resources for Labour branch business.

The report is due to be made public this week.
