Treasury Deputy Chief Executive Andrew Kibblewhite has been appointed the new Chief Executive of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC).

He will replace Maarten Wevers, who is due to step down on June 13.

State Services Commissioner Iain Rennie said Kibblewhite, who has previously served as director of the DPMC's policy advisory group, was an outstanding manager with a strong policy and central agency background.

"Andrew has demonstrated notable leadership and is an effective proponent for change and improvement across the government sector," Rennie said.

"He has trusted relationships across the Public Sector, particularly with chief Eeecutives, and his proven insight, energy, drive, and commitment complements his collaborative abilities."

Rebecca Kitteridge, currently the Secretary of the Cabinet, will be the Acting DPMC chief executive until Kibblewhite takes up his new position on  June 25.
