Scotsman explains New Zealand's flag change process in this must-watch video
It's taken a Scotsman to clearly explain New Zealand's flag referendum process, including that tricky preferential voting system.
The video posted on the Wonder Why Youtube channel explains what's been going on with the flag in our "often forgotten-about country in the South Pacific".
It covers all bases, from the confusion between the New Zealand and Australian flags, to various political viewpoints on the flag change.
As well as touching on the history of New Zealand's flag and the path to the referendum, the Youtuber lays out the specifics of how the preferential voting system used in the first referendum led to Kyle Lockwood's black and blue silver fern being picked to go up against the current flag in the second vote next year.
For those still struggling to understand the flag change process, this is a must-watch.
