Gisborne and Hawkes Bay: Cloud increasing. Rain developing tomorrow afternoon, with heavy falls possible.

Waitomo and Taupo to Wellington, also Wairarapa: Isolated showers, turning to rain from Whanganui northwards tomorrow morning, and elsewhere later.

Nelson, Buller and Westland: Mostly fine, isolated showers clearing tonight.

Marlborough: Cloudy periods, with isolated showers tomorrow.

Canterbury and Otago: Mostly fine. Cloudy areas developing tomorrow, with late showers for Clutha and Dunedin.

Southland, except Stewart Island: Mostly fine. Isolated showers tomorrow night.

Stewart Island and Fiordland: Isolated showers developing tonight, turning to widespread rain tomorrow afternoon or evening.

Chatham Islands: Occasional showers.

Thursday: North Island, rain with heavy falls in the east, easing to showers and clearing in Bay of Plenty. In the west, rain in the south gradually clearing, and a few showers elsewhere. South Island, a few showers in the east, and mainly fine elsewhere.

Friday: Remaining showers in the east clearing and a few showers possible in the far north, otherwise mainly fine, with morning frosts in sheltered places.

Saturday: North Island, rain developing in Northland, otherwise mainly fine with morning frosts in sheltered places. South Island, mainly fine with morning frosts, but a few showers developing in Fiordland.

Chatham Islands: Rain developing on Thursday, with heavy falls possible, and northeasterlies strengthening. Rain persisting on Friday and winds turning gale southerly. On Saturday, rain and southerlies easing.
