Short Forecast for all New Zealand
The upper half of the North Island from Taranaki, Taupo and Gisborne northwards: Unsettled with periods of rain or showers, some heavy falls and possible thunderstorms with hail.

Remainder of the North Island: Mainly fine with high cloud, but brief rain tomorrow morning.

Nelson: Periods of rain with heavy and possibly thundery falls, especially in the west.

Marlborough A period of rain tonight. Mainly fine tomorrow apart from showers about the Sounds.

Buller, Westland: Rain becoming widespread today. A clearance tomorrow morning, but rain returning to Buller and northern Westland later.

Canterbury and eastern Otago: Cloudy today with areas of rain. Rain becoming confined to the eastern Otago tomorrow morning with fine spells elsewhere. However, southerlies and rain returning to south Canterbury at night.

The remainder of Otago, Southland and Fiordland: Cloud increasing. Scattered rain tomorrow.

Chatham Islands: Cloudy with the odd light shower.
Extended Short Forecast for all New Zealand
Thursday: Showers becoming few and far between from North Taranaki to Bay of Plenty northwards, and clearing in the west of the South Island. Rain elsewhere, easing in the evening and clearing from Southland to North Otago.

Friday: North Island, a few showers in Northland, rain in the east gradually clearing, fine or becoming fine elsewhere. South Island, fine or becoming fine, with morning frosts, but cloudy periods in Southland and Fiordland later.

Saturday: North Island, cloud increasing, and rain spreading from the northwest to Taranaki across to Bay of Plenty during the evening. South Island, cloud increasing, and rain developing in the west and south.

Chatham Islands: Rain at times on Thursday, northwesterlies dying out and cold southwesterlies developing in the evening . Showers on Friday and Saturday, and southwesterlies turning strong northwest later on Saturday.
