Northland to Taranaki and Taupo, also Gisborne and Hawkes Bay: Further showers about eastern Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and northern Hawkes Bay overnight, but mostly fine elsewhere. Tomorrow, showers becoming widespread during the day, with some heavy thundery falls possible.

Whanganui and Taihape to Wellington, also Wairarapa: Scattered rain developing tomorrow morning, then easing to a few showers later in the day.

Marlborough, Nelson, Buller and Westland: Scattered rain overnight. Showers tomorrow, some heavy inland in the afternoon and evening.

Canterbury, Otago, Southland and Fiordland: Mostly cloudy. Patchy drizzle about the coast and Canterbury Plains, and a few showers elsewhere overnight. Isolated afternoon showers inland tomorrow.

Chatham Islands: Cloudy periods.

Wednesday: North Island, rain from Northland to Bay of Plenty, showers elsewhere. South Island, a few showers in the north and west, drizzle in the east, but mainly fine about Fiordland and Southland.

Thursday: North Island, showers in most places, and cloudier about Gisborne and Hawkes Bay, showers clearing from Whanganui to Wairarapa and Wellington. South Island, mainly cloud in the east, with drizzle at first, mainly fine elsewhere.

Friday: Mainly fine, though showers in the north of the North Island and a few showers about Gisborne and Hawkes Bay and in inland areas. Drizzle developing about the fiords.

Chatham Islands: Becoming cloudy Wednesday morning, with drizzle at times. Cloudy periods with a few drizzle patches on Thursday and Friday. Winds mainly light, northerlies developing on Friday.
