The remainder of the North Island, also Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury: Fine weather. Strong to gale southwesterlies in exposed places easing.

Buller to Fiordland, also Southland and Otago: Remaining showers clearing this morning and becoming fine. However, rain developing in Fiordland later today and spreading to Stewart Island in the evening. Gale westerlies at times in exposed places in Southland and Otago.

Chatham Islands: A few showers, clearing this afternoon.

Tuesday: North Island, fine, and warm in the east. South Island, fine and warm in the east and cloudy periods in the west, with patchy drizzle in Fiordland and Westland.

Wednesday: North Island, fine spells in the north, fine and warm in the east,and increasing cloudy periods elsewhere. South Island, rain spreading north in the west, with heavy falls in Fiordland, then easing from the south. Elsewhere, showers spreading north with a change to cooler temperatures.

Thursday: North Island, a period of showers with a change to cooler temperatures. South Island, a few showers, more frequent in the far south, but dry in Nelson.

Friday: North Island, a few showers Auckland north, and mainly fine elsewhere. South Island, a few showers in the west and south, and mainly fine elsewhere.

Chatham Islands: Mainly fine on Tuesday and Wednesday. A few showers developing on Thursday. Westerlies throughout the period, strong at times.
