Northland to Kapiti, including Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and the central high country: Showers, some heavy, with isolated squally thunderstorms and hail. Severe northwest gales south of Taranaki tomorrow.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay: Mostly fine, but a few showers spreading from the west. Northwest gales south of Hastings tomorrow.

Wellington, Wairarapa and Marlborough: Isolated showers turning to rain tomorrow morning then easing to a few showers by evening. Severe northwest gales for Wairarapa tomorrow.

Canterbury: Fine at first. Showers developing inland tomorrow afternoon and becoming widespread at night with snow to 600 metres.

Nelson, Buller, Westland and Fiordland: Rain at times, heavy in the west, but just a few showers reaching Nelson City. Snow to 700 metres. Becoming fine later tomorrow.

Otago and Southland: Fine at first. Rain tomorrow afternoon and evening, with snow to 500 metres later.

Chatham Islands: Periods of rain.
Extended Short Forecast for all New Zealand
Sunday: North Island, occasional showers in the south spreading up the east coast, showers and fine spells elsewhere. South Island, showers in the south and east, mainly morning and evening, snow to low levels at first, mainly fine elsewhere but a few west coast showers north of Hokitka later.

Monday: North Island, showers and fine spells, snow showers possible on high level roads at night. South Island, fine or becoming fine in most places, but still a few showers in the far south and about Banks Peninsula and the Kaikoura Coast.

Tuesday: North Island, occasional showers. South Island, occasional showers in the south, a few morning showers in the east and the odd shower along the west coast, mainly fine elsewhere.

Chatham Islands: Showers becoming lighter and less frequent on Sunday, and southwesterlies developing. Strong southwesterlies and showers on Monday and Tuesday.
