From Northland to Waikato, and also Bay of Plenty: Mostly cloudy with showers.

From Waitomo to Wellington, including the central high country, also Hawkes Bay south of Napier and Wairarapa: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers, turning to rain tomorrow.

Gisborne and the remainder of Hawkes Bay: Scattered showers today, mainly about the ranges. High cloud tomorrow.

Nelson and Marlborough except the Kaikoura Coast: Occasional rain, becoming persistent tomorrow, then easing in the evening.

Kaikoura Coast and Canterbury: Mostly cloudy with scattered light showers, clearing tomorrow morning then fine.

Otago and Southland: Scattered showers, possibly heavy and thundery in the afternoons and evenings.

Buller to Fiordland: Rain, becoming heavy and possibly thundery for a time overnight and tomorrow morning, then turning to showers.

Chatham Islands: Mostly cloudy.
Extended Short Forecast for all New Zealand
Monday: Occasional rain for most of the North Island, with some heavy falls possible from Waitomo to Taranaki. Rain in the west and south of the South Island, some heavy falls and thunderstorms possible.High cloud elsewhere.

Tuesday: North Island, showers becoming isolated by afternoon, but clearing in the east from Bay of Plenty to Wairarapa and fine spells increasing. South Island, occasional showers in the west and south, a few showers elsewhere with a strong southwest change.

Wednesday: North Island, scattered showers in the west, mainly fine elsewhere. Northwesterlies, possibly gusting severe gale in exposed places in the south. South Island, heavy rain easing to showers in the west and south, a few showers elsewhere with a cool strong southwest change. Westerlies possibly gusting severe gale in the south.

Chatham Islands: Periods of rain. Northerlies strengthening on Monday, turning strong southwest for a time on Tuesday, and again on Wednesday.
