Northland to Coromandel Peninsula: Long fine spells and isolated showers in the west.

Bay of Plenty and Taupo: Long fine spells.

Waikato to Taumarunui: Showers becoming isolated this morning and clearing inland by evening.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay: Mostly fine, apart from a few showers about Mahia Peninsula.

Taranaki to Wellington, Taihape, Nelson and Buller: Cloudy periods and a few showers. Showers clearing in Taihape by evening.

Westland and Fiordland: Showers, becoming isolated this morning and clearing tonight.

Marlborough and Canterbury: Areas of morning fog, then fine spells. However, a few showers about the Sounds. Becoming cloudy tonight and drizzle developing in Canterbury.

Otago and Southland: Generally cloudy, with patchy drizzle about Foveaux Strait and eastern Otago.

Chatham Islands: Showers and southwest gales, both easing.

Tuesday: Rain or showers for most places, but only the odd shower from Whanganui to Horowhenua Kapiti Coast, and also Gisborne and Hawkes Bay.

Wednesday: Rain or showers, but becoming fine in the west of the South Island.

Thursday: Rain or showers in most places, but mainly fine in the west of the South Island.

Friday: Becoming fine in most places, but still some rain for the east of the North Island, and a few showers in the Far South.

Chatham Islands: Cloudy periods on Tuesday and Wednesday, with northeasterlies strengthening. Rain developing on Thursday, and winds changing strong southerly.
