Northland, Auckland, Coromandel and Bay of Plenty: Showers turning to rain from late morning, heavy and possibly thundery for a time. Rain easing to a few showers in the evening. Northwest gales in exposed places, easing this morning.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay: Showers about the ranges, becoming heavy this afternoon and a few spreading east, then clearing at night.

Waikato to Wellington, including the central high country and also Wairarapa: Showers, some heavy with possible squally thunderstorms and hail until this morning.

Marlborough, Nelson, Buller and Westland: Showers becoming few and far between during the morning and fine spells increasing.

Fiordland: Mostly fine.

Canterbury and Otago, not including Clutha: Scattered rain, falling as snow above 600 metres at first, clearing this afternoon.

Clutha and Southland: Scattered showers.

Chatham Islands: Periods of rain.

Monday: North Island, occasional showers in the west. Mostly fine in the east and south but showers developing from afternoon, however, remaining dry for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. South Island, showers spreading to most places, but fine for southern Westland and northern Fiordland.

Tuesday: North Island, showers, clearing for Bay of Plenty and Rotorua. South Island, occasional showers in the east and south, with snow to 400 metres in the south. Mostly fine in central and western areas but showers spreading there during the afternoon and evening.

Wednesday: North Island, rain in the north, possibly heavy, easing later.Showers in the south, clearing for western areas. South Island, fine in the west. Cloudy in the east, with showers retreating to the far south and the east coast.

Chatham Islands: Occasional showers Monday and Tuesday, heavy at times, clearing Wednesday but remaining cloudy. Gale westerlies, turning gale southerly on Tuesday, then easing Wednesday.
