Northland, Auckland and Coromandel: Cloudy periods and isolated showers, showers becoming more widespread in Northland this evening.

From Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne to Taranaki, inland Whanganui, the central high country and Hawkes Bay: Cloudy periods and scattered showers.

Coastal Whanganui to Wellington, also Wairarapa: Scattered rain clearing this morning, leaving fine spells.

Nelson, Marlborough, Buller and northern Westland: Scattered rain clearing Nelson and Marlborough this morning, and elsewhere during the afternoon.

The remainder of the South Island: Showers retreating to southern Fiordland, Southland and Clutha this morning, and becoming fine elsewhere. However, cloudy periods persisting in south Otago and then returning to Canterbury this evening.

Chatham Islands: Fine spells, then evening rain.

Wednesday: Fine, apart from isolated afternoon and evening showers over the northern half of the North Island, especially about the ranges, and a few morning drizzle patches near Foveaux Strait.

Thursday: North Island, mainly fine, a few afternoon and evening showers over the northern half. South Island, showers developing in the west and cold southwesterlies and showers moving onto the far south by evening. Fine elsewhere.

Friday: Southerlies spreading over the country bringing a few showers to most places, but clearing over the South Island.

Chatham Islands: A few showers on Wednesday with fresh cold southwesterlies. Mainly fine on Thursday with winds tending northwest. Showers and strong cold southwesterlies on Friday.
