Waikato to Kapiti, including the central high country and Wairarapa: Cloudy periods and a few showers today. Becoming fine tomorrow morning. Severe northwest gales for Wairarapa, easing this evening.

Wellington, Nelson, Marlborough: A few showers developing this evening, mainly about the Kaikoura Coast, clearing overnight and becoming fine.

Buller, Westland: Remaining showers clearing this evening and becoming fine.

Canterbury: Showers clearing tonight and becoming fine.

Otago, Southland, Fiordland: Cloud and coastal showers clearing this evening. Mainly fine tomorrow, however rain developing in Fiordland in the evening and a few spots elsewhere.

Chatham Islands: Rain developing this evening, clearing tomorrow morning.

Monday: North Island, mainly fine in Gisborne and Hawkes Bay, a few showers elsewhere, then clearing from Taranaki to Wellington and Wairarapa. South Island, mostly fine in Marlborough and Canterbury, brief morning rain or showers elsewhere then mainly fine.

Tuesday: North Island, cloudy periods, morning showers in the north and west, drizzle from Taranaki to Wellington later, turning to rain south of Foxton. South Island, rain developing in the west, with heavy falls, and scattered falls further east.

Wednesday: North Island, rain or showers in most places, but only a few falls in Gisborne and Hawkes Bay, and clearing in the south. South Island, rain or showers in the west and far south, fine or becoming fine elsewhere.

Chatham Islands: Cloud increasing on Monday and northerlies developing. Rain or drizzle at times on Tuesday, clearing on Wednesday and northerlies turning westerly.
