Northland and Auckland: Just a few showers today. Isolated afternoon and evening showers tomorrow.

From Waikato to Kapiti and the Bay of Plenty to Wairarapa: Long fine spells in the east today, showers spreading to most western parts. Cloudy at first tomorrow with drizzle patches but afternoon and evening showers developing, some heavy and thundery.

Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson and Buller: Rain in the west with some heavy falls in northwest Nelson. Rain becoming widespread for a time tomorrow but in Marlborough and Nelson, rain gives way to inland showers during tomorrow evening.

Westland and Fiordland: Rain today with some heavy falls north of Franz Joseph, clearing tomorrow and becoming fine.

Southland, Canterbury and Otago : Often cloudy, drizzle patches today but inland showers developing tomorrow afternoon or evening, some heavy. .

Friday: North Island, fine or becoming fine in the east from Gisborne to Cook Strait, rain or showers clearing from Taranaki down to Wellington, showers elsewhere. South Island, a few showers in the west and about Nelson, turning to rain in Fiordland later. Becoming fine in the east.

Saturday: North Island, mainly fine in the east, increasing rain or showers in the west. South Island, some heavy thundery rain in the west easing away later, a period of rain and a southerly change in the east.

Sunday: North Island, rain or showers in the west, and a few spreading to the east. South Island, mostly fine in the west, also Nelson and inland Otago.A few showers elsewhere.

Chatham Islands: Becoming cloudy and a few showers developing on Friday with strengthening northerlies. Saturday brings rain and gale northwesterlies. Showers and southwesterlies on Sunday.
