Northland: Mainly fine. Isolated showers in the north and east, some heavy.

For the remainder of the North Island, excluding Gisborne and Hawkes Bay: Few remaining showers about Whanganui, south Taranaki and Wairarapa clearing this morning, and becoming fine everywhere.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay: Fine, apart from isolated coastal showers north of Wairoa.

For all of the South Island, excluding Fiordland: Fine, apart from a few showers about coastal Southland until late morning.

Fiordland: Cloud increasing. A few showers developing towards evening.

Chatham Islands: Mostly cloudy, with occasional showers.

Friday: North Island, fine apart from scattered showers in the north. South Island, cloud increasing in the west, drizzle developing in Buller and rain further south, mainly fine elsewhere.

Saturday: North Island, long fine spells in most places, a few showers in the north, cloud increasing from Taranaki to Wellington with scattered rain later. South Island, rain in the north and west, heavy falls about the ranges, and brief rain further east, easing in Fiordland later and clearing in Otago and Southland.

Sunday: North Island, cloud increasing and some rain or drizzle in the north and west. South Island, rain in the north and west, fine with high cloud elsewhere.

Chatham Islands: Fine spells and light winds on Friday. Increasing cloudy periods and freshening northerlies on Saturday. Occasional rain and northerlies on Sunday.
