Northland: Fine spells and a few showers.

Auckland, to Taranaki and Taumarunui, also Taupo: Rain at first, with a few heavy falls. Showers tomorrow.

Coromandel Peninsula and Bay of Plenty: Rain, with some heavy falls, easing tomorrow.

Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa: Rain, persistent and heavier north of Wairarapa.

Whanganui, Taihape and Manawatu: Scattered rain.

Horowhenua, Kapiti Coast and Wellington: Mostly cloudy. Patchy light rain at times.

Nelson, Buller and Westland: Rain, becoming patchy in Nelson and Buller tomorrow.

Marlborough, Canterbury, North Otago and Dunedin: Cloudy, with patchy rain or drizzle.

Central Otago, Clutha, Southland and Fiordland: Mainly fine at first. Cloudy tomorrow with a few spots of rain.

Chatham Islands: Mostly cloudy. A few showers possible.

Tuesday: North Island, rain in the east, possibly heavy in Gisborne, a few showers elsewhere, especially afternoon. South Island, often cloudy with patches light rain or drizzle.

Wednesday: North Island, rain in the east, showers becoming widespread elsewhere. South Island, rain in Marlborough, patches light rain or drizzle elsewhere, but dry in Southland and Clutha.

Thursday: North Island, rain or showers in most places, sunny breaks increasing Kapiti and Wellington. South Island, cloudy periods in Southland and Clutha.Elsewhere, scattered rain or drizzle gradually clearing.

Friday: North Island, a few showers in the east and far north, becoming fine elsewhere. South Island, remaining drizzle patches clearing, and sunny spells increasing, but showers in Fiordland.

Chatham Islands: From Tuesday through to Thursday, cloudy periods and northeasterlies.
