Short Forecast for all New Zealand
For all the North Island: Rain spreading east with some heavy falls, also severe northerly gales in Taranaki, Whanganui, Taihape and Wellington. Rain turning to showers tomorrow morning. Showers then becoming isolated from Waikato, Taupo and Bay of Plenty northwards, and becoming fine in Gisborne and Hawkes Bay.

Nelson, Marlborough, Buller and Westland: Rain with heavy and possibly thundery falls, and north or northeast gales. Rain easing tomorrow and winds turning southwest.

Canterbury, Otago, Southland and Fiordland: Rain, becoming heavy in Otago and Southland tomorrow but turning to occasional showers in Canterbury and clearing about the Fiords. Northeast gales in exposed places in Canterbury tomorrow morning, and southwesterly gales about coastal Canterbury, Otago and Southland from evening.

Chatham Islands: Fine at first. Cloud increasing tomorrow and rain developing.
Extended Short Forecast for all New Zealand
Monday: North Island, cloudy periods in the west, with showers easing and clearing morning north of Taranaki. Showers spreading north along the east coast. South Island, showers easing and clearing from the east coast in the morning and becoming fine.

Tuesday: Mainly fine, some areas of cloud and a few showers in the west of both islands. However, rain developing later in the day for the western South Island.

Wednesday: North Island, showers developing then turning to rain for a time. South Island, West of the divide, rain with heavy falls easing to showers. Brief rain in the east, followed by showers.

Chatham Islands: Rain monday morning with northerly gales, then showers for the rest of Monday and Tuesday, with westerlies, tending northerly on Tuesday. A period of rain followed by showers on Wednesday with strong northwesterlies changing southwest.
