Nelson: Occasional rain, heavier and more persistent west of Motueka.

Marlborough and Canterbury: Mostly cloudy, with scattered rain or drizzle.

Buller and northern Westland: Rain spreading south later today. Occasional rain tomorrow.

Southern Westland and Fiordland: Mainly fine today. Rain spreading south overnight, with heavy falls tomorrow.

Otago and Southland: Fine spells today. Rain developing tomorrow morning, with heavy falls possible from afternoon.
