Short Forecast for all New Zealand
Northland to Bay of Plenty and down to Kapiti Coast: A period of rain this morning with heavy falls, thunderstorms and hail in the west, followed by showers. Severe northwest gales south of Taranaki.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay: Mostly fine, but brief showers around the middle of the day. Northwest gales south of Hastings.

Wairarapa, Wellington and Marlborough: Rain, easing to a few showers this evening. Severe northwest gales for Wairarapa.

Nelson to Fiordland: Rain, lingering in Buller and northwest Nelson, but clearing elsewhere early afternoon. Snow to 600 metres this morning.

Canterbury: Fine at first. Showers developing inland this afternoon, also with a southerly change reaching Christchurch tonight bringing snow to 600 metres.

Otago and Southland: Fine at first. Cold southerlies and showers spreading north from mid-afternoon, with light snow to 500 metres this evening.

Chatham Islands: Clearing this morning, but rain tonight.

Sunday: North Island, occasional showers in the south spreading up the east coast, showers and fine spells elsewhere. South Island, showers in the south and east, mainly morning and evening, snow to low levels at first, mainly fine elsewhere but a few west coast showers north of Hokitka later.

Monday: North Island, showers and fine spells, snow showers possible on high level roads at night. South Island, fine or becoming fine in most places, but still a few showers in the far south and about Banks Peninsula and the Kaikoura Coast.

Tuesday: North Island, occasional showers. South Island, occasional showers in the south, a few morning showers in the east and the odd shower along the west coast, mainly fine elsewhere.

Chatham Islands: Showers becoming lighter and less frequent on Sunday, and southwesterlies developing. Strong southwesterlies and showers on Monday and Tuesday.
