Short Forecast for all New Zealand
Northland to Kapiti, including Bay of Plenty and the central high country: Occasional showers, turning to rain for a time tomorrow. Thunderstorms possible from Taranaki southwards in the evening. Westerly gales in exposed places tomorrow.

Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa: Mainly fine, but a few showers at times. Northwesterlies rising to severe gale south of Hastings tonight.

Wellington: Occasional showers, clearing late morning. Northwesterly gales.

Nelson: Showers, especially in the west.

Buller, Westland and Fiordland: Periods of rain, thundery at times. Snow lowering to 300 metres in Fiordland tomorrow and 500 metres elsewhere.

Marlborough and Canterbury: Showers near the western ranges. A few elsewhere at times. Thunder and hail possible about coastal Canterbury tomorrow. Northwest gales inland, easing tomorrow.

Otago and Southland: Showers becoming widespread tonight as cold southwesterlies develop, gale about the coast. Snow lowering to 200 metres by tomorrow night.

Chatham Islands: Rain at times.

Saturday: North Island, showers and cool southwesterlies for most, and snow about higher roads. South Island, showers with cold southwesterlies in the south and northwest, with snow to low levels in the south. Mostly fine elsewhere.

Sunday: North Island, fine spells, with showers in central areas. Northwesterlies rising to gale in the south. South Island, heavy rain in the west, with scattered falls in the south. Mainly fine elsewhere. Northwesterlies rising to gale in the north and east.

Monday: North Island, a period of rain spreading northeast, followed by showers. Strong or gale westerlies for most. South Island, a period of rain, followed by showers, with snow about the hills in the south. Strong cold southwesterlies.

Chatham Islands: Showers on Saturday with southwesterlies. Fine on Sunday with northwesterlies strengthening. Showers returning on Monday with fresh southwesterlies.
