For all of the North Island, except Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa: Showers, some heavy with squally thunderstorms and hail from later today, easing tomorrow evening.

Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa: Mainly fine. However, brief rain this evening and isolated showers tomorrow.

Marlborough, Nelson and Buller: Showers, with isolated squally thunderstorms and hail from this evening, easing tomorrow afternoon and clearing in Marlborough and much of Nelson by evening.

Westland: A few showers in the north, spreading to most places tomorrow.

Canterbury: Cloud increasing and scattered rain developing this evening, clearing tomorrow.

Otago and Southland excluding Stewart Island: Fine today. Scattered rain developing about the south coast tomorrow morning and spreading north later.

Fiordland and Stewart Island: A few showers, becoming frequent and heavier tomorrow.

Chatham Islands: Occasional rain.

Thursday: North Island, showers in most places, but mainly fine in the east from Gisborne to Wairarapa. South Island, rain or showers in the south and west, with the odd shower elsewhere.

Friday: A few showers, but rain spreading onto the western North Island and northern South Island at night.

Saturday: North Island, periods of rain spreading eastwards, with some heavy and thundery falls in the west. South Island, rain spreading southwards, with some heavy falls possible in the north and east. Mainly fine or becoming mainly fine in Westland and Fiordland.

Chatham Islands: Cloudy periods and a few showers, with northwest winds on Thursday. Showers and westerlies on Friday, strong winds for a time. Rain with possible heavy falls developing on Saturday. Westerlies turning northerly and possibly rising to gale for a time.
