Northland, Auckland, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and Taupo: Cloudy periods and isolated light showers.

Waikato, Waitomo and Taumarunui: Fine spells. Cloud increasing this evening.

Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, also from Taranaki and Taihape to Wellington: Mainly fine. However, cloudy periods for Taranaki, Kapiti and Wellington with a few showers there from evening.

Nelson and Buller: Scattered showers, turning to rain this morning, with heavy falls.

Westland and Fiordland : Rain, with heavy and possibly thundery falls, easing in Fiordland around midday.

Marlborough, Canterbury and Otago, excluding Clutha: Heavy rain about the main divide. Elsewhere, thick high cloud and a few spots of rain.

Southland and Clutha : Occasional rain, possibly thundery during the afternoon.

Chatham Islands : Cloudy.
Extended Short Forecast for all New Zealand
Monday: North Island, rain spreading to most places, with heavy falls, especially in the north and west. Gale northerlies in exposed places, with possible severe gales in Wellington and Taranaki. South Island, rain or showers in most places, with heavy falls in the north. Gale or severe gale northerlies in Marlborough at first.

Tuesday: North Island, periods of rain in the south. Scattered showers further north, clearing in Gisborne. South Island, periods of rain in Marlborough, with scattered showers elsewhere. Snow to 700 metres in the far south, and to 900 metres about the southern main divide.

Wednesday: Showers, becoming isolated in the east and clearing central New Zealand.

Chatham Islands: Cloud increasing Monday, with rain developing late in the day and northerlies rising to gale. Rain easing to a few showers on Tuesday as winds turn fresh westerly. Showers on Wednesday, more frequent from evening with westerlies rising to gale.
