A 62-year-old Takaka woman is seriously injured after the quad bike she was riding went over a bank and rolled on top of her.
Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter pilot Tim Douglas-Clifford said emergency services were dispatched to Upper Takaka about 1pm today.
''The bike just smashed on top of her,'' he said.
A St Johns spokesperson said the woman was flown to Nelson Hospital with injuries to her head and ribs.
She was assessed and stabilised at the scene by the helicopter's onboard intensive care paramedic before being airlifted for further treatment.
