Nelson's newest luxury motel accommodation, The Sails, has officially opened.
The motel complex on the corner of Trafalgar and Wainui streets was developed by Christchurch-based Brent Ennor, who has developed a number of high-profile motels in Nelson.
The top-end 15-unit motel complex is managed by Max and Robyn Reelick. It was officially opened on Friday by Nelson city Mayor Aldo Miccio.
The Reelicks have moved to Nelson from Hanmer, where they dhowned a cafe and had a history of working in the hospitality dhbusiness.
Ennor met the Reelicks in Hanmer and was impressed with their business approach and wanted to work with them in the future.
Robyn Reelick said the motel had a soft opening on November 19.
Each of the rooms had their own private courtyard or balcony.
The rooms were equipped with stainless-steel kitchens, 42-inch LCD TVs, a mini-bar, personal safe and guest laundry, along with complimentary Sky TV and Ipod.
The complex also had a commercial kitchen.
The couple were enjoying the challenges of running a new business, she said.
