Police cannabis raids capture 640

A police operation has destroyed more than 100,000 cannabis plants, seized 112 firearms and resulted in the arrests of 640 suspects.

Northland had the highest amount of cannabis plants seized (46224) in Operation Lucy while Wellington had the least (1393).

Sixty-four patched gang members or associates were arrested during the operation - showing the connection between organised crime and the cannabis trade, Detective Senior Sergeant. Scott McGill said.

In addition to the plants and firearms seized an estimated $195,000 of stolen property was recovered.
