Ammp: From the Back of the Sun
Relevant offers
This Wellington quartet's enthusiastically executed jangle pop-rock is aimed at the heart of commercial radio, but they're smart enough to not let their songs outstay their welcome, unlike some of their Kiwi kin.
Short, sweet numbers are the order of the day, and while frontman Andrew Masseurs' vocals have some of Bono's tones and earnestness, especially in Day One and The Hunted (with anthemic echo completing the U2 picture in the latter), his keyboards are a bit underused, bar Let the Sunlight In's cheery whistling riff.
In Midnight In Newtown, the lads sing about dirty rock 'n' roll, but don't exactly play it, although they put things right with Ironman and Action Sequence Take 182.
Few risks are taken here, but it's delivered in easily digestible portions.
Best tracks: Let the Sunlight In, Always.
