Two standouts of the New Zealand acoustic music scene will be performing at Nelson's Fairfield House on Sunday.
Mark Laurent and Brenda Liddiard have been touring New Zealand, Australia and Britain for more than 20 years.
They say that what they enjoy most is connecting with audiences on an intimate level - "in acoustic clubs, small theatres, house concerts, churches - wherever people want to come close and really listen".
A review from the Wellington Folk Festival described them as two of New Zealand's finest singer-songwriters.
Laurent has a penchant for acoustic rock, blues and reggae, while Liddiard's songs lean more towards new folk and alt-country. They are said to pepper their sets with short bursts of poetry, as Laurent is also a professional writer.
Mark Laurent and Brenda Liddiard, Fairfield House, Sunday, November 18 from 7.30pm. Door sales $10; cash bar available.
