If you're going to do a four-disc retrospective of one of our greatest and most important bands, you'd better get it right – and this set ticks all the boxes.

Disc one has their classic singles and B-sides – everyone knows Nature, but songwriting machines Wayne Mason and Ali Richardson could also rock out (Tell Me No Lies, Otaki), or get hippyish (I'll Sing You A Song, Which Way Did She Go?) or dramatic (Start By Giving To Me), indulge in raging psychedelia (If I Had The Time) or just have childish fun (Alice Is There, Mr Whippy, Just Around the Corner).

Their first album, Green 'B' Holiday, is full of classy Beatlish songs like Mr Harris' Garage, My Mama George and Fun, and some Noo Zillund chit-chat between the boys.

The follow-up Creation shows their evolution as tunesmiths via treasures like Together and Blessbury Road, while the next two, Live and Turn Your Back On The Wind, chart their shift towards a heavier sound, more experimentation and more sharing of songwriting duties.

And it's all smartly remastered, beautifully designed and packaged. If you were or are a Fourmyula fan, or you want to enjoy the moment when homegrown pop songs broke through, this is indispensable.

Best tracks: My Mama George, Together
