A Takaka woman seriously injured in a quad bike accident in Takaka yesterday has been flown to Christchurch Hospital.
A Nelson Hospital spokeswoman said today the woman was in a stable condition in the intensive care unit.
The 62-year-old woman was seriously injured after the quad bike she was riding on a property in Upper Takaka went over a bank and rolled on top of her.
Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter pilot Tim Douglas-Clifford said yesterday emergency services were called to Upper Takaka about 1pm.
A St John's spokesperson said the woman was initially flown to Nelson Hospital with injuries to her head and ribs.
She was assessed and stabilised at the scene by the helicopter's onboard intensive care paramedic before being airlifted for further treatment.
