There was organised chaos in Stoke yesterday as early-learning centres from around the area descended on Ranui Reserve to take part in their first "trailer party".

The trailer, provided by Sport Tasman and the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board's nutrition and physical activity programme, came full of activities and obstacles for about 80 children from four centres.

Kiwi Treasures supervisor Fritha Snape said it was a nice opportunity for the children and organisers of the centres to get together and socialise.

"It's about developing those relationships and getting to know what is around in your community."

Sport Tasman active movement adviser Jenny Dravitzki said the trailer was filled with tunnels, obstacles, pickleballs, jumping bags and parachutes. She said it would be available to anyone wanting to help their children engage in healthy activity.

During the summer, it would be set up in various locations for the public to use.

Elim Kiwi Kids manager Janetta Cassidy said it was the first get-together the centre had organised but they hoped to do many more. She said the trailer was a great asset and provided things there was no room for in the centres: "Being able to access it so easily is great."

Stoke Kindergarten and First Steps Educare also took part.
