New Zealand's oldest immigrant, 104-year-old Eric King-Turner, has died.

Mr King-Turner, a retired Royal Navy dental surgeon was 102 when he came to New Zealand from Titchfield, near Southampton in England with his New Zealand-born wife, Doris, who is now 90.

He suffered a stroke at their home in Mapua, near Nelson, and died in Nelson Hospital on Sunday.

Mr King-Turner had been in fine health in recent months and accompanied Nelson Mail chief photographer Martin De Ruyter and columnist Zane Mirfin on a fishing trip to the Motueka River in November of last year. You can view photos from their trip by clicking the gallery below.
