Charms help make Finnegan sparkle

Finnegan the Irish setter has not always lived a charmed life, but with the help of some local jewellers, his luck is about to change.
Finnegan seems pleased to be at the Nelson SPCA. He arrived three days ago with a terrible ear infection and infected toes and was covered in thick, matted hair. He had not been well looked after and needed help.
Klustre was started 10 years ago as a way to bring Nelson's jewellers together for group shows and to share knowledge. As part of the group's recent exhibition, it raffled a charm necklace made by 15 jewellers to raise money for charity.
The lucky winner of the necklace was Nell de Graas of Nelson, but even luckier is Finnegan, who will get $432 from the necklace's sale to go towards a well-needed makeover.
Nelson SPCA manager Donna Walzl said it was a fantastic gesture, and she was sure Finnegan was grateful.
"He needs a bit of work and a good going-over, but he is a very special dog, and in about a week he will be looking for a very special home."
Klustre jeweller Mieke van Dam said it was the first time the group had raffled a piece of jewellery made by almost all the members.
"It has been really successful, and it's great that it is going to go to a good cause. We are really pleased with how it has gone, so I think we will probably do a similar project next year."
Ms Walzl said the group's Klustre of Charms had ensured that Finnegan's future would be bright.
