The family of missing teen Leo Lipp-Neighbours have hired a helicopter to search for him and are scouring roads for any sign of his car.
Mr Lipp-Neighbours was last seen at 4am on Sunday at his Watson St, Nelson house after earlier being at the Phat Club in central Nelson.
He left the flat alone in his distinctive orange Toyota Corolla stationwagon, registration NQ7258.
He has not been seen since, and police hold serious concerns for his safety.
He has not been in contact with his family and has not tried to access his bank accounts.
Neither has he used his cellphone since he was last seen by his flatmates.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Ian Langridge, of Nelson, said Mr Lipp-Neighbours' family was extremely worried he might have lost control while travelling on a remote road and was in need of help. Mr Langridge said Mr Lipp-Neighbours was known to enjoy driving to remote spots and then take short walks to enjoy the views.
Police and Mr Lipp-Neighbours' family are asking people to look out for his car and report or investigate any tyre marks or other indication a car may have left the road in an uncontrolled manner.
