A Nelson man violated a drunk woman while she was passed out on his bed after inviting her back to his flat to wait for a taxi.
Lyndon Sherwin Herewini admitted a charge of unlawful sexual connection when he appeared in the Nelson District Court yesterday.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Graeme Eden said on September 19 the victim was outside the Shark Club in Nelson at 3.30am.
Mr Eden said Herewini suggested she come back to his house where he would make her a coffee and arrange a taxi.
When Herewini touched her leg she told him she did not want a relationship with him.
Mr Eden said the woman was drunk and started to fall asleep.
Herewini told her to sleep on his bed and he would sleep on the couch.
Mr Eden said the woman got onto his bed fully clothed and again told him she did not want any kind of relationship with him.
She was overcome by how drunk she was, but had some memory of Herewini sexually assaulting her.
When spoken to by police Herewini confirmed sexual contact had taken place, but said he believed the victim had consented.
Judge Tony Zohrab remanded Herewini in custody until February 21 for sentencing.
