D-Day coming soon for Plan B

It's the end of an era for Nelson's Plan B Bar and Cafe, and co-owner Steve Shepherd says "there's no plan C" on the horizon.
Demolition notices have been issued for the building that houses Plan B in Alma Ln, as well as a heritage building in Collingwood St.
A multistorey commercial development is planned for the site they are on.
Mr Shepherd, who owns Plan B with Rob Gunn, said they were not going to reopen elsewhere.
The chattels will be up for grabs at a public auction on February 21, after the doors close on February 17.
"There's a lot of good stuff here. Everyone wants the couches," Mr Shepherd said.
He said he and Mr Gunn had considered reopening Plan B in the new complex, but it would no longer have a sunny courtyard.
"I have looked for a similar spot around town, but haven't really come up with anything. The economic climate also makes it reasonably difficult, with big set-up costs."
Mr Shepherd also owns the Shark Club in Bridge St, which he said was "ticking along and working pretty well".
He said owning Plan B had been an "interesting" ride.
"We have enjoyed it, and I think our customers have, too."
Plan B has eight staff, and Mr Shepherd said about three of them were going to pick up shifts at the Shark Club.
The heritage building in Collingwood St may be moved to Founders Heritage Park instead of being demolished.
