A 19-year-old Hope motocross rider who fell four metres down a bank yesterday after he slipped on a wet log in the Hira forest was flown to Nelson Hospital.
The accident at 1.40pm was one of the jobs the Nelson Marlborough rescue helicopter responded to at the weekend.
The man's bike landed on his leg and he suffered a leg injury. His riding partner was able to call for help by cellphone.
The injured rider was treated by a St John intensive care paramedic at the scene and flown to Nelson Hospital.
On Saturday, the helicopter picked up a 62-year-old man who had fallen in the shower at Little Kaiteriteri and broke his leg.
On Saturday afternoon the rescue helicopter picked up a 65-year-old patient with chest pain in the Dovedale area.
The man was being transported towards Nelson in a St John ambulance, but was in a critical condition requiring immediate medical intervention.
The ambulance was met on the corner of Neudorf and Blackbird roads, where the patient was transferred on to the helicopter.
At 2pm on Saturday the helicopter was dispatched to a patient with a medical condition in Torrent Bay. The patient died at the scene.
