The lucky few at Rainbow Ski Area yesterday enjoyed stunning weather and lovely snow, without a queue in sight.
Rainbow spokesman Hamish Neill said those who missed the chance to replace the daily grind with a midweek ride should take advantage of this weekend's good weather forecast and “excellent” snow.
“I don't think people realise how good it is up there at the moment,” he said. “The snow is in really nice condition, with good packed powder, including a lot of man-made snow on groomed trails.”
All the field's main trails, except the race course, are open, and the access road is back on track, after sponsor Edridge Contracting raced in to fix damage created by heavy rain after the school holidays.
“Once again, they went beyond the call of duty,” said Mr Neill.
Rainbow has a limited number of discounted passes going on sale at liftie.co.nz from today.
