Nelson migrants are being invited to a forum to learn about employment opportunities in the region.
Sonny Alesana from Nelson Tasman Settlement Support said he was expecting about 30 to 40 people at the seminar, which had linked migrants up with employment in the past.
Mr Alesana said the forum was for anybody new to Nelson.
He expected about 90 per cent of people attending to be from overseas.
They would include former refugees, international students and travellers who wanted to stay here.
“We're bringing in employers from places like Opus International, the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board and a law firm to talk about people's rights when they are employed.”
NZQA representatives would also be on hand to talk about people's qualifications and what they needed to do to upgrade them to practise here.
Mr Alesana said the forum was particularly targeted towards skilled migrants' partners, who may be struggling to find work.
The forum, Adding Value to Nelson, is on September 7 in the Nelson City Council chambers. To register, call Sonny Alesana on 03 546 0305.
