Nelson College students and their dates stepped out in style for the school's annual year 13 ball.
The ball, held at Seifrieds Vineyard on Saturday night, saw students dolled up in their best suits and dresses, and keen to dance the night away.
The night featured catered food, and music, from a band that included an appearance by Ed Palmer of Smokefreerockquest finalists New Vinyl, to keep the students dancing all night.
Headmaster Gary O'Shea said the night had gone well, with a great atmosphere and no drama from the students.
The ball was held at a time when students were transitioning into becoming adults and striking out on their own, and some parents would have realised this on the night, he said.
A pre-ball at the venue allowed parents to drop off their teens, take pictures and meet other parents, all in an alcohol-free venue, and this helped keep the night trouble-free.
"It starts the evening on a very moderate level," he said.
Students were also told that in the event of a large after-ball function being organised, the ball would be cancelled, so most would have gone to smaller gatherings following the night, he said.
"The boys have risen to the occasion and have made it a more adult affair and not just an interlude between drinking.
"I think they appreciate being treated like adults."
