Quitline helped more than 62,000 Kiwis to stop smoking during the last financial year. Ms MacPherson said Quitline helped 1318 Nelson and Marlborough people attempting to give up smoking in the 2011-12 year, compared to 884 in the year before.
The majority were aged between 25 and 44, 14 per cent were Maori and Pacific clients, while 58 per cent were female, Ms MacPherson said.
