Neudorf wines fit for Middle-earth
Nelson's Neudorf Tom's Block Pinot Noir 2010 has been chosen for the world premiere of The Hobbit in Wellington next week.
Neudorf Vineyards co-owner Judy Finn said the team at the winery were "chuffed" to have their wine poured for Cate Blanchett, Martin Freeman and the rest of the crew.
"This is a seriously impressive VIP list."
It has been a stellar week for Neudorf.
It started when their Neudorf Maggie's Block Pinot Gris was chosen for Prince Charles' 64th birthday at Government House, then on Monday night they were awarded Best New Zealand Pinot Gris for the Neudorf Moutere Pinot Gris at the Australia Good Wine Awards in Melbourne, and yesterday they found out Warner Brothers wanted Neudorf Pinot Noir for The Hobbit.
"We might have to break out something with bubbles in it for the crew. Got to celebrate the good times," she said.
Neudorf Dairy Cheeses is also celebrating after Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, sampled one of its sheep cheeses when she and Prince Charles were at the Canterbury A&P Show last week.
"We were so excited," said Neudorf Dairy sales and marketing manager Rebecca Leach.
Theirs was one of 50 stalls in a marquee, and they were lucky that Camilla came over as the royal couple only popped in for a few moments, she said.
"She tasted it and said it was delicious."
