Police are appealing for public help to find a missing Christchurch man who may be in the Tasman district after his car was found near Tapawera.
The missing man is Mark William Robinson, 37.
Detective Constable Keith Olds said Mr Robinson had not been seen since Friday morning when he left for work at around 7.30am, but did not turn up.
His car, a gold Mazda MX5, was found yesterday evening on a back road near Tapawera.
"We believe he travelled to Nelson, and then on towards Murchison.
"An initial search of the area has not turned up any sign of Mr Williams."
Mr Olds said there was nothing to suggest that foul play was involved, but police had concerns for Mr Robinson's welfare as his disappearance was out of character.
"We urge Mr Robinson to contact police as soon as possible. We would also like to hear from anyone who has seen Mr Robinson or had contact with him since Friday morning - or who knows anything about his whereabouts."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Mr Olds on (03) 3739220, or Christchurch police on (03) 3637400.Alternatively, to provide information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
