A second free concert for youth will be held on Saturday at the Tahuna Youth Stage.
It is hoped it will become one of a series of regular gigs to make more use of the youth stage area by Tahunanui Beach, community volunteer Sheryl Copeland said.
This Saturday's concert will feature four bands: Paper City, Little Oceans, marley and The Black Sports, as well as volleyball and a free sausage sizzle.
The event is being put on by The Truck, a mobile youth events centre that has been born out of The Hub youth centre whose headquarters closed because the building was not up to earthquake standards.
The Truck is supported by the Nelson City Council and the Canterbury Community Trust.
Ms Copeland said the first concert this month on the Tahuna Youth Stage was a success, attracting 150 youth but they wanted to make more use of the area which has an outdoor stage.
Holidaymakers and residents were welcome at the alcohol and drug-free event which would go from 6 to 9pm. The area is near the beach cafe.
