Billboard DEC-laration goes back to the future
Those going past Fairfield Park in Nelson recently may be forgiven for wondering if they needed a time-machine to make it to the first night of 2013 Woollaston Jazz and Blues Festival.
A keen-eyed Nelson Mail reader called to point out that a sign near Fairfield House mistakenly had the date for the first night of the festival as December 1, rather than the real date of New Year's Day.
Organiser Liam Ryan said the sign had only gone up on Boxing Day, had been put up by a volunteer, and it was clear there had been a genuine mistake.
"It's just the product of a festival moving at a 100 miles an hour."
The sign would soon be replaced with one reflecting the correct date.
Thankfully all other publicity around the event had the date correct, he said.
The Classic Hits Jazz & Blues in Fairfield Park Concert on Tuesday from 3pm will feature the Catherine Wells Quartet, King Tubbs, Trudi Wilson & Jasper, and One Vibe.
The show is the start of the annual six-day jazz festival with more than 45 events which include performances around the city.
